    Hi everyone

I have been self Harming for about a year and a half. I did stop for about a month but i started again but this time its only scratching with a compas or anything sharp. A few days ago my friend saw me with a compas in my hand and scratching at my arm. She told her sister and they both told one of my old teachers about it and she said for them to tell my mum and the school nurse which is a counsellor but i dont really want to see a counsellor. I really dont want my mum to find out because it will just make things worse. The teacher doesnt know that i know they told her so i really dont know what to do. Does anybody have any advise for me?

I think maybe you should tell the teacher you know. It's going to be really hard, and it will take a lot of bravery, but if you don't say now, everyone could find out, and you think that will make your situation worse.
So your best option is to explain to the teacher how you feel. If that idea is still too hard, maybe you should tell her you were daydreaming while scratching your arm, and you don't normally do it, you just weren't thinking.

I really hope this has helped you

I selfharm too and I know how hard it is to go through something like that. The only difference is I have been doing it for nearly 4 years.

Well done for stopping for a month... You should be proud.

One of the teachers at my school knows and she never contacted my parents so maybe if you say you dont want your parents to know then I am sure she will see you point of view. Also, I went to see a councillor and she helped a little bit but not really so I fully understand why you don't want to see her.

Can I ask how old you are? You don't have to answer though.

Have you tried other ways of relieving the pain such as trying to write out what is making you upset or angry. Or try doing an activity to take your mind off the issue.

I hope this helps... Please let me know how you get on.

    Good luck xxx

    It'll be okay

i have been self harming for just over a year and my guidence teacher at school knows. She is very nice and i told her i didn't want my parents to know and so far she hasn't told them. You don't have to see a councellor if  you don't want to. No-one can force you, but you may want to try it, you never know it may help you. I also feel that you should go and talk to this teacher about it and tell her you know.

good luck and i hope that was in some way helpful
