i hate tampons too  but the towels are just as good at hiding your periods, i should know! i started mine while i was on holiday in Wales! oh my days that was so not funny! but don't feel embarresed about it, it's a natural thing and i'm sure you'll get used to it

    hey!!

    im 11 now...but i started when i was nine....and swimming was HELL...

But I think u should tell ur teacher..she probably would let u off swimming...

Ur depression will go soon....and i suggest u talk to ur mum...let out ur emotions....and u will understand eventually...

AHH! SISTERS! IM TOTALLY WITH YOU!

I'm 11 years old and i started my periods last year when i was 10 on the 1st December, in Frankie and Bennys after watching the christmas lights go on. I was with my BFF Amy and she was really supportive!

Firstly, i have had perids for a year now, and i have settled into my routine, im still the only on in my class who has.. But it doesnt bring me down!

Secondly, about swimming , periods stop when your in the water, so u dont have to wear a tampon its weird, but ive been swimming i think 5 times now with just a pad on, theres really no difference!

Thirdly, the depression wears off, you're just way too mature for everyone else now btw. And i was dead emarassed too, it seriously normal and it just means one day you can help others because you have been through it already!

Lastly, Just remember to stay happy, its so much better starting young and i find you and i the most lucky of the female species, hope this helps! xoxoxoxo!

Btw, lovin' late night shoppin in Glasgow in the winter, Sweet Sweetness!

this might be a odd question but.... do using tampons hurt

They hurt at first, because of the fact that you dont know where your pointing it. Ive recently started my periods and have used them once or twice, because I couldnt keep up with how heavy I was. As I said, it hurts at first, but in the packet is a leaflet that tells you how to put it in and stuff. And when its in, its uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it easily and its a lot nicer than feeling the blood drip into the towel all day :)

You really shouldnt go swimming with pads on. Tampons are fine as they are inside your body. But pads are on the outside, and the blood and uterus can make the water dirty.
