i'm sure some of you have been in my position where you've had to go to the doctors, either forced to or chosen to because of an eating disorder. I'm so scared because i have no idea what will happen if i go. can anyone tell me what they say to  you or ask you. also do they do like things like blood tests and weigh you and stuff?

please let me know so that i have a vague idea of what to expect when i go x help

Hello when you go to your gp they will ask how many meals you eat a day , how much do you weigh , they can do blood tests to check you BMI also they will ask alot of stuff because they want to help and support you through this .

Yesss they do weigh you becase they done this with me but its nothing to worry about its better you tell them the truth than u getting so ill you have to be put in hospital for it and fed by a drip so please tell them the truth !

    thanks so much for replying,,

also, do your parents have to be in the room with you because i don't think i'd be able to tell the truth with them there because they think i eat lunch and breakfast but i don't and i don't want them to find thta out especially not at the doctors??/

Hello  i dont think you have to have your parents in the room how old are you ? I did but my mum was okay with it  but that was my choice if she came in or not .

normally parents only have to been in the room if you having an check up by that i mean like them touching your body eg: Your stommache etc .

You should tell your parents babe im sure they would want to help and support you although it can be scary to tell them what abot you try to write it down for them !

Wirte back if u want too!

    Hey :)

When you go to the docs they will just asses you, So if you want help you have to be totally honest with them... Or even give them a vague idea of the truth :) They will take your weigh and height to get ur BMI (body mass index) and from that they will see if your underweight, healthy weight or overweight etc, but you dont have to fit a critera tohave a certain idea weight is only a symptom of an Eating Disorder.

I dont think your parents do have to be in the room with you, But it would be good if you could tell your parents the truth about what your eating that way they cans support you more :)

Ive had anorexia for a few years, and im now at an Eating Disorders Unit (EDU) because of it, I wish id got help sooner. I hope you get the help and support you deserve :)
