....he died. The night no one was in the house... We were only gone twenty minutes... But getting ketchup made the difference...

It was the 5th of November. My dog Mickey was special, the first dog i ever had. And when i got in from school that day, i didn't even realise he was gone.

Mickey had escaped. He had got out of our garden and ran off. My Dad was in Nottingham on a course so my Mum and our neighbours went looking for him. So did my older sister Hannah. It brings tears to my eyes as I type this next bit.

She came back histericle, I unlocked the door and she collapsed into a heap of tears, Mickey stood in the door way shaking. "HE'S BEEN HIT!" she was weeping. A chunk was missing from Mickey's leg and his mouth was bleeding. I got my first aid kit and we put a bandage aroung his leg. My Mum got back and she was histericle too. Our neighbours took Hannah and Abigail into their house while i went with my Mum to the vets. The last I ever saw of Mickey alive was him being carried throught the vets with blood dripping from his mouth...

The next day I got home from school and my parents were in the kitchen, I was thinking can't wait to see Mickey. but I knew something was wrong. They said to me, "Jess, I'm sorry. Mickey died." My heart was torn out. I burst into tears. I went to his grave and cried my eyes out. Even my Dad was crying and I've never seen him cry before.

Now he's gone... forever and ever. I go to his gravew has often as I can. But nothing can fill the hole, not even Merlin our new dog.

I thought his life, Would never end, Rest in peace, Mickey my friend....
