Hi there,
Thanks for your letter. You’ve done the right thing getting in touch.
Moving up to year 6 can be a scary time, so it’s normal to feel worried. It might be that there are others in your class who feel the same as you. Perhaps you can think about what it has been like when you’ve had new teachers in the past and whether you felt differently once you got to know them.
It’s important to know that teachers are there to help. It can take time to get to know new teachers, but when you do it might help to speak to him/her about how you’re feeling about the SATs. They will be able to answer any questions you have.
Remember that when the time comes for you to do your SATs, ChildLine will also be here to help you with your feelings. You might want to look at our School page or our Exam stress page to see if there is anything there that can help you.
I think you’ve been really brave to contact me. Remember that if you want to talk about this some more, our counsellors are also always here to listen to you whenever you want to talk. You can phone us for free on 0800 1111, or speak to a counsellor online in a 1-2-1 chat or email.
Take care,
Sam.
