Hi there,
As you and your friend are so close it is can easily happen that you both end up liking the same boy. However things can get really complicated and feelings can get hurt in situations like this. I can hear that you really like him, but as he is your best friend's boyfriend it is important to think about her feelings too.
I know you have said you don’t think they like each other but it is important to speak to your friend about how she feels. That way you will understand their relationship better. If you find that she doesn’t really like him you could think about sharing your feelings with her. Being open and honest will help her to see that her friendship is important to you.
Your happiness also matters, so take some time to think about how to speak to your friend. Make sure you are alone and have time to talk. It may take some time for her to accept that you like him and that’s okay.
If you find that your friend does want to be with her boyfriend this might be difficult for you to hear. Having a relationship with him in this case could really affect your friendship. You can get support by asking an adult for help, getting support from other young people on our message boards or by talking to a ChildLine counsellor.
Take care,
Sam
