Hi there,
At ChildLine, you can talk about any problems at all that might be on your mind, so it is a safe place to share how you’re feeling.
Many people find that talking about their worries can help them work out their feelings and what options might be open to them. It can feel scary thinking about getting other people involved, but it can be helpful for some people.
In most cases, ChildLine counsellors wouldn’t need to tell anyone else what you have told them, which might be different to talking to someone like a teacher at school. There are times when they might need to tell someone else to keep a child or young person safe, but this is something you can talk through with a counsellor.
If you don’t feel able to talk through your problems straight away, we would never pressure you to say anything you don’t feel ready to. The counsellors are not here to judge you, they are here to listen to you and support you. It can take some people a few times before they feel ready to talk so you are welcome to come through just to see what it’s like if you find that helpful. You can either talk to a ChildLine counsellor by phone, 1-2-1 chat online or through email. You can also talk to other young people on the ChildLine message boards.
Whatever your worry, there is always someone here to support you at ChildLine.
Take care,
Sam
